Ham and Swiss Sliders

Super Bowl 50 is almost upon us – less than 2 weeks away! We’re going to watch the Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers. I just hope it’s a good game, and that the commercials aren’t so corny 🙂 If you’re hosting a get together to watch the big game, you’ll want to make sure you have these on the menu: Ham and Swiss Sliders. They’re easy to make, quick to prepare, and so friggin good. The first time I had these, someone brought them to a bridal shower and I was immediately hooked….and so has every person I’ve ever made them for. So make a double batch!

Start by combining the melted butter, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, and minced onion. Whisk together until well blended.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Then cut each roll in half.

Cut the Swiss and ham slices in half, then fold each piece in half to make smaller pieces that will fit on the bread. Layer the sliders as follows: Swiss, ham, Swiss, ham, Swiss. So you’ll end up with alternating layers of 3 folded pieces of Swiss and 2 folded pieces of ham on each slider.

Complete with the rest of the rolls then put them into a baking dish, arranged tightly together.

Spoon the butter mixture on top of each roll, covering each completely with onions and poppy seeds. The sliders will be soaked – this is what you want! Come to mama…..

Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake 2-3 minutes until tops are slightly browned. These are best served warm, but are perfectly delicious at room temp!

Ingredients
  1. 12 oz package Hawaiian sweet rolls (12 rolls)
  2. 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  3. 1 1/2 Tablespoons dried mined onion
  4. 1/2 cup (8 Tablespoons or 1 stick) of melted unsalted butter
  5. 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
  6. 1/3 lb thinly sliced deli ham (I like VA honey ham)
  7. 1/2 lb thinly sliced Swiss cheese
Instructions
  1. Combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, and minced onion. Whisk together until well blended.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Then cut each roll in half.
  3. Cut the deli Swiss and ham in half, then fold each piece in half to make smaller pieces that will fit on the bread.
  4. Layer the sliders by starting with one folded slice of Swiss, then a folded slice of ham, then another Swiss, one more ham, and finally top with a folded slice of Swiss. So you’ll end up with alternating layers of 3 folded pieces of Swiss and 2 folded pieces of ham on each slider.
  5. Complete with the rest of the rolls then put them into a baking dish, arranged tightly together.
  6. Spoon the butter mixture on top of each roll, covering each completely with onions and poppy seeds.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake 2-3 minutes until tops are slightly browned.
Notes
  1. Tip #1: These are best served warm, but are perfectly delicious at room temp.
  2. Tip #2: This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to make a bigger batch!

    1. Thanks a lot, Patti! And yes, it’s been a disaster! The entire neighborhood basically shoveled all of sharpskin on our own over the last few days! Hope you’re enjoying sunny FL!

    1. Girl, you are going to LOVE them and so will the fam 🙂 Let me know though, I’m always interested in feedback please!

    1. You are the bestest! Thanks for the feedback, love…and PS, i loved your post yesterday. Your boys are just the cutest little things I’ve ever seen! xx

    1. Hi, Katie – thanks for stopping by! And yes you can absolutely assemble them the night before, refrigerate, then bake the next day. The only thing I would recommend doing is holding off on pouring the butter/mustard sauce on top of the sandwiches until right before you’re ready to bake them. Hope that helps and hope you love them!!
