Grapefruit Moscow Mule

How in the world is it almost 2017?? This year has been full of ups and downs and I am grateful for all it has offered. But I’m ready to move forward and embrace all the possibilities and adventures that await me in 2017! It’s been my absolute pleasure bringing you fun, festive, and delicious recipes this year, and I hope this last one will help you celebrate 2016 and welcome 2017. Friends, I give you my Grapefruit Moscow Mule!

Moscow Mules are extremely popular these days and are super simple to make: vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. But I wanted to give it a bit of a holiday spin. Grapefruit hasn’t always been at the top of my juice list, but recently I’ve come to really enjoy its tartness. But not everyone loves grapefruit juice, so I knew I needed to add some sweetness. And for me, grenadine is that perfect sweet ingredient that brings about all sorts of nostalgic childhood memories. Whenever the adults got together for grown-up drinks, I remember the kids got to indulge in some good ole’ Shirley Temples (lemon lime soda + grenadine). Plus it gives the mule a fun pink/red color :)

Serve these at your new year’s eve bash and your guests will go nuts over them! Or make them for just you and your honey, and ring in the new year at home in style :)

How to make it

Fill a copper mug (or highball glass) with ice. Add the vodka and ginger beer to the mug. Add the grapefruit juice, lime juice, and grenadine. Stir to combine, then garnish with a sprig of mint and slice of lime. Serve immediately.
